Guernsey States approves private school funding cut

  • Published

A phased reduction in grants and special place holder fees for Guernsey's private schools has been approved by the States.

The total reduction in funding of £1.1m is due to be realised by 2018.

During debate, a call to introduce a means-tested grant to replace the special place holder scheme was defeated 40-5.

In 2011, the States paid almost £4.9m in grants and funded up to 52 students to attend the three colleges.
