New cycle parks have been built in St Peter Port by Guernsey's Environment Department.

The covered shelters were placed on North Beach and the Crown Pier at a cost of about £15,000.

Environment Minister Peter Sirett said he hoped they would encourage more people to leave their cars at home.

He said: "We're trying to give people who use their bicycles for work somewhere where they can keep their bicycles in a bit more cover."
