Guernsey hedgehog charity bonfire warning

  • Published

A charity in Guernsey has urged people not build bonfires in advance - to help save hedgehogs from being killed inside.

The Hedgehog Rescue Centre said the animals shelter beneath the wood.

The charity said many hedgehogs could be saved if people only build a bonfire on the day they intend to light it.

Dawn Robin, the founder of the centre, said one hedgehog had already died this season after the bonfire it was sheltering in was set alight.
