Guernsey foster care campaign prompts inquiries to double

  • Published

A response to an appeal for more foster carers in Guernsey has almost doubled the number of inquiries for the year.

The Fostering and Adoption Team has had 15 inquiries since it launched the campaign last week.

It hopes to register between 10 and 12 new foster carers during the initiative, which ends on 31 December.

Team manager Mike Carter said "it was great" that many who had contacted the team have been considering fostering for some time.

"It means people have taken on board the messages, they're reflecting on what they've thought previously and they've decided to contact us," he said.

"It was that group of people who have always had an interest in fostering, but haven't pursued it."
