Hundreds of trees to be planted in Guernsey

Hundreds of trees will be planted in a Guernsey field in the New Year.
A project by the Guernsey Men of the Trees will see a field in the Castel parish transformed in January 2012.
Five hundred trees will be planted, with species including English oak, hazel, common alder, walnut and lime.
While permission for the trees has been granted by the island's environment department, an application for a commemorative stone on the site is still being considered.
The area, part of the St Germain Nature Reserve, will be named "Sigma Wood" in honour of local company Sigma Group which has sponsored the planting.
Children from Castel School will help to plant the trees.
