Male domestic abuse numbers rise in Guernsey

  • Published

The number of men in Guernsey seeking help for domestic abuse has risen slightly but there is still a stigma attached to the issue, experts said.

Victim Support scheme manager Marilyn King said 32 men had called the service for help between January and November.

The service took 20 calls from male victims of abuse in 2010.

Ms King said the island did not have a refuge for men, and some male victims found reporting incidents of domestic abuse embarrassing.
