The first prize could rise further and break the record jackpot set in 2010

The guaranteed first prize in this year's Channel Islands Christmas Lottery has reached £750,000, which equals the record amount set last year.

Guernsey's Culture and Leisure Department said there was still time for the first prize to grow before the draw on 15 December.

The jackpot grows as more of the £1 tickets are sold.

Last year's lottery raised more than £230,000 for charities in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

One of those charities was Victim Support and Witness Service, which received a £1,000 grant.

It offers a free, confidential service giving information and support to victims, witnesses, their families, and friends before, during, and after attending court.

The grant was spent on training for a new member of staff and new volunteers and for a bereavement training session for staff and volunteers.
