Guernsey's Admiral Park the focus of new cinema plans
- Published
Plans for a new cinema on land at Admiral Park in St Peter Port have been submitted by developers Comprop.
The plans also include proposals for offices, retail units, exhibition space and the possibility of a hotel.
Comprop said construction of a cinema would depend on finding a suitable operator, for which discussions will be held if planning permission is granted.
While Guernsey has one cinema - the Mallard, in the south of the island - a second was suggested in 1998.
The redevelopment of Admiral Park began in that year and plans for a cinema were included in the overall development scheme.
Since that time, a number office and residential buildings have been built on the site, as well as two major retail units.
Comprop estimated the next phase of construction at Admiral Park would cost in the region of £50m.
Before the redevelopment the land housed a number of local businesses and industries.
