Guernsey benefits overhaul plan presented to islanders

  • Published

Plans to overhaul Guernsey's benefits system are to be presented to islanders by the Social Security Department.

The "work first, benefit second" proposals include higher unemployment benefit rates and improved rent support for low-income families.

Claimants and their partners would be expected to work or undergo training.

The meeting takes place at 19:30 GMT on Monday at Haute Capelles Primary School, and the proposals are due before the States in March.
