Alderney States urges residents to help tidy the island

Alderney residents have been urged by their government to help tidy up the island ahead of the tourist season.

The States of Alderney and the Alderney Wildlife Trust have begun a campaign called Our Island, Our Home, which asks people to help collect litter.

Three clean-up events have been planned for islanders to get involved with.

A spokesman for the Alderney Wildlife Trust said these would allow people who love the island to take "direct action" in the face of growing concern.

The events are planned for 24 March, 7 July and 6 October.
