A ferry service is to start operating between Guernsey and Alderney.

The owners of Bumblebee Boat Cruises will be running a regular service between the islands, with sailings operating three days a week.

Skipper Dan Meinke said: "We actually want to be of service to the Alderney people... we're trying to build loyalty with the guys up there."

Alderney has limited regular transport links, with daily flights to Guernsey and Southampton and sporadic sailings.

Mr Meinke plans to start operations on Wednesday with a new 32ft catamaran, capable of carrying 12 passengers.
