Guernsey bowls champion Alison Merrien receives MBE

Mrs Merrien described the experience as "fantastic"

Guernsey bowler Alison Merrien has received her MBE at Buckingham Palace.

The world champion was presented with the award by Princess Anne during a ceremony on Wednesday.

She said: "The Princess Royal was fantastic, she loves talking to everybody...it was lovely to talk to her."

Mrs Merrien, who won the bowls world cup in April, was named in the 2012 New Year's Honours list for her services to the sport.
