Deputy John Gollop has been elected to lead the States committee responsible examining how Guernsey's parish churches are funded.

He was previously the vice-chairman of the Parochial Ecclesiastical Rates Review Committee under Tom Le Pelley, who stood down as a deputy in April.

In February the States approved a report on changes to the funding.

It included transfer of ownership for some rectories and management boards being set up.
