New playground for Guernsey's Saumarez Park delayed

The installation of new play equipment at Saumarez Park, in Guernsey's Castel parish, has been delayed by at least nine months due to slow fundraising.
When the £500,000 project was launched in January it was hoped work could begin in March, with funds coming from businesses and members of the public.
Andy McCutcheon, the vice-chair of The Friends of Saumarez Park Playground, said £50,000 had been raised so far.
"I'd like to think that we could get things started next year," he said.
However, he said work would not start on the project until more money had come in.
"What we don't want to do is drag this thing out," he said.
The plans include creating separate play areas for toddlers, juniors and teenagers.
The States of Guernsey has committed to funding the maintenance of the playground, once built.
