Seven people on board an English-registered yacht have been rescued by the Alderney lifeboat.

The Vixter, a 38ft (11.5m) sailing boat, had suffered a damaged rudder south west of the Casquets Lighthouse. No-one was hurt.

The boat had been racing from Hamble Point Marine to St Malo, when it encountered steering problems.

The all-weather lifeboat, Roy Barker One, towed the vessel into Braye Harbour at 04:30 BST.
