A damaged section of coast road in Guernsey will not open fully to traffic until late spring.

Graeme Falla, who is leading the repair work, said a full repair cannot be undertaken until the weather improves.

A 10m (33ft) section of seawall and road at Perelle collapsed and fell into the sea during storms last month.

Mr Falla said despite opening one lane of the road for traffic this week, the other side cannot be fixed until more settled weather arrives next year.

He said: "We have not designed the full repair yet so until we have got that it would be inappropriate to try to guess at what it might cost, but it is going to need some substantial investment."
