Guernsey's Mother of the House is elected to Home board

Deputy Mary Lowe, the States of Guernsey's 'Mother of the House', has been elected to the Home Department.

Deputy Lowe had failed to gain a departmental seat since the general election in April 2012.

The election to fill former Alderney Representative Boyd Kelly's vacant seat on the Home Department saw Deputy Lowe chosen over Deputy Dave Inglis.

Meanwhile, Deputy Roger Perrot was elected to Treasury and Resources, his first departmental seat.

Deputy Perrot had also failed to gain a seat on any departmental boards since the election.

The latest States elections leaves former Chief Minister Lyndon Trott as the only Guernsey deputy without any committee or departmental role.

The January meeting of the States of Guernsey also saw elections to vacant positions on the Legislation Select Committee and the States Assembly and Constitution Committee.

The positions were filled by Deputy David de Lisle and Deputy Hunter Adam respectively.
