Guernsey electronic census law changes agreed

The drafting of laws needed for the introduction of a rolling electronic census has been agreed by the States of Guernsey.

The replacement for the traditional paper census is due to be ready in 2014.

The Policy Council then hopes to use the electronic database to provide wider benefits for the States in designing policy.

A census has not been held in the Bailiwick since 2001.

Previously they were carried out every five years across Guernsey, Alderney and Herm.
