Sark government chooses its first senior administrator

Sark is to have its first full-time senior administrator from next month.

Kath Jones was chosen from among 47 candidates from Sark, the UK, Jersey and Guernsey and will move from the UK to the island to take up the new post.

She will provide support to the island's government - Chief Pleas - and to its committees.

The decision to create the post - at a cost of £35,000 - was made in May, in a reversal of an earlier decision to reject the proposal on cost grounds.

In a government statement, Ms Jones was described as an experienced public sector officer who has held senior positions in local government and has worked with the UK central government and regional authorities.
