Guernsey group says no reform plans until summer 2014

People in Guernsey will have to wait until summer 2014 before finding out plans for government reform.

The States Review Committee will be six months later than expected in presenting its first proposals.

The committee will present two options for reform that politicians will have to vote on.

If both options are rejected after a States vote then the committee with be disbanded and the States will have to start again.

If members approve one of the models, the details will be worked up and submitted for debate in time for changes to be brought in at the same time as the 2016 General Election.

Chief Minister Deputy Peter Hardwood said: "It is important we get this right, I don't think we should be rushed based on a deadline."
