Sark Chief Pleas members are elected

  • Published

Four new conseillers have been elected to Sark's government following a by-election held on Wednesday.

Alan Blythe and Matthew Joyner topped the poll after each got 178 votes, with Peter Byrne and Paul Burgess the other successful candidates.

It was the lowest turnout for a fully democratic election in the island with only 280 of eligible 444 people voting.

Chief Pleas by-elections can only be held when three or more seats are vacant.

There are 28 conseillers in Chief Pleas, with elections held for half of the government every two years.
