Guernsey States agrees to improving Alderney airport

Guernsey's States has announced plans to improve the airfield at Alderney.

Statesmen unanimously agreed to uphold the Requete - originally put together by Paul Arditti, who died unexpectedly last week - and invest up to £100,000 (122,000 euro) on an upgrade.

Around 40 campaigners, including Mr Arditti's widow, were in the gallery lobbying for the Requete.

Alderney representative Louis Jean said: "The move sends a positive message to the people of Alderney."
