Guernsey Airport fraud trial to start in September 2015

Two men accused of defrauding the States of Guernsey of £2.6m will not stand trial until September 2015.

Adrian Taylor, 43, and John Woodhatch, 56, pleaded not guilty when they appeared at Southwark Crown Court.

Both are charged with conspiracy to defraud and entering into an arrangement to launder money and acquiring criminal property in relation to payments on an £80m airport revamp.

Mr Woodhatch denied a further count of transferring criminal property.

Judge David Higgins fixed their trial, expected to last three weeks, for 7 September 2015.

Mr Taylor, of The Rosery Guest House, Park Road Industrial Estate, Swanley, Kent and Mr Woodhatch, of Stonards Hill, Loughton, Essex, have both been released on bail.

The charges relate to a bogus letter being sent to the States of Guernsey asking them to change the bank account details they held for major contractor Lagan Construction.

Lagan won the main contract as part of a £80m airfield refurbishment project at Guernsey Airport.
