Guernsey flight delays after bird strikes Aurigny jet

Aurigny bought a jet to serve the Gatwick route and is launching a London City service

A new jet bought by Aurigny was forced to turn back to Guernsey after suffering a bird strike earlier.

A total of 117 passengers and crew on board disembarked safely after landing and there are no reports of injuries.

The Embraer 195 was en-route to Gatwick when it was struck at about 07:25 this morning, while heading north to the London Airport.

The pilot turned back and landed the aircraft at about 07:45 with both engines still operating.

Aurigny has chartered another regional jet while investigations and repairs take place. Passengers are being advised to check in as normal for outbound flights

Chief executive Mark Darby, said the affected plane should be back in circulation soon.
