New scheme to monitor Guernsey midwives

Midwifery services in Guernsey will fall under a new national registration scheme from 2016.

It follows a critical report, which raised concerns about the supervision of midwives.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council is meeting with senior nurses and midwives about introducing the scheme.

It will replace the current post-registration education and practise standards.
