Channel Islands regulator warns on telecoms merger

The Channel Islands' main telecoms firms announced proposals to merge in June

The interests of telecom consumers in Guernsey and Jersey should be taken into account before any merger between JT and Airtel-Vodafone, regulators say.

The Channel Islands Competition Regulatory Authorities (CICRA) said there would have to be conditions against anti-competitive behaviour.

The Channel Islands' main telecoms firms announced proposals to merge in June.

Both companies, and JT owner the States of Jersey, have declined to comment.
