A channel island ferry has returned to the water after having emission-cutting equipment fitted.

The Commodore Clipper left Portsmouth for Guernsey on time on Monday morning.

Operating company Condor Ferries said the ship had to be fitted with new scrubbers to comply with EU environmental legislation.

The company said engine work on the Condor Liberation should also be completed on Monday allowing the ship to run on schedule from Thursday.

The Clipper has been in dry dock since 4 November.

New scrubbers will also have to be fitted to the Commodore Goodwill on a date yet to be announced.
