A bridge that has undergone almost £400,000 worth of repairs is to be inspected by engineers this week.

Specialist equipment will be used to assess the condition of the bridge that leads to Castle Cornet, in St Peter Port's harbour.

Work on the bridge has been going on for five years to monitor and analyse the structure.

Access is restricted and the public is being urged to follow safety notices and avoid areas underneath the bridge.

The work, by McFarland Consulting, will take about five days and include a visual inspection, hammer rap survey and strain sensor maintenance.

A States report looking at the future of the bridge is due to be published early next year.
