The Policy and Resources Committee could borrow £150m for new housing

Deputies in Guernsey have approved £150m in borrowing in principle for new housing on the island.

Guernsey States politicians voted 27 to 11 to approve the motion at a meeting on Thursday.

The money could be spent on new extra care housing, partial-ownership properties or social housing under the States' affordable housing programme.

A final vote will now be scheduled in order for the grant to be given to the Policy and Resources Committee.
