Guernsey post-16 campus could be back on track

Guernsey's Education, Sport and Culture Committee is asking deputies to approve up to £200m of borrowing to help fund plans for a new post-16 campus.
Members voted in October to push on with plans but did not back funding.
ESC President Andrea Dudley-Owen said without this money the island would be "failing its children".
If ESC's proposal to change the 2024 budget is approved, an extra £111m will be added to the agreed capital investment portfolio.
'Difficult situation'
Plans to borrow up to £350m, introduce a GST and reduce income tax rates were rejected by States members last month.
The decision meant the scheme to build a new post-16 campus was put on hold, which has led to criticism from some senior leaders in education that they'll be left teaching in sub-standard facilities.
Deputy Dudley-Owen said her committee was currently in a "very difficult situation" while its plans stalled.
She added she felt it was an "irresponsible situation" for the States to have left education in.
Deputies are due to vote on the proposal at their meeting starting on 7 November.
