Inflation is being blamed for a proposed rise in taxi fares

Taxi fares in Guernsey could increase by 7.67% to offset rising costs.

The increase, which is supported by the Guernsey Taxi Drivers Association, would reflect inflation over the period from June 2022 to June 2023.

The proposed rise in charges is being considered by the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure.

If approved, a two-mile journey during normal daytime hours would increase by 60p from £8.10 to £8.70.

The committee is now inviting comments, external from islanders on the proposed increase.
