Part of the responsibilities included finding "an attractive alternative to the use of personal motor vehicles"

A senior role at the States of Guernsey is going to be advertised for a sixth time due to "a lack of suitable candidates", an official has said.

The role of head of on-island transport and travel was first advertised earlier this year.

The job, with a salary of between £86,205 - £97,136, includes advising on and developing the on-island transport strategy.

A revised job description will be used for the new advert, the States said.

'Role and responsibilities reviewed'

The previous description said the post holder would help the island shift to carbon net zero and safe, accessible and affordable travel.

It also said the States was looking for a strategist "to drive forward opportunities to increase the use of efficient, accessible, and sustainable modes of travel that can offer an attractive alternative to the use of personal motor vehicles and make best use of Guernsey's transport infrastructure".

Damon Hackley, director of operations - economy, infrastructure, environment and culture, said: "An advert was issued earlier in the year, but it didn't attract any suitable candidates.

"The role and responsibilities have been reviewed and amended, and the job description and advert are due to go out imminently."
