Plans have been submitted to demolish the former St Martin's Hotel in Guernsey.

If approved, it could make way for new housing, as proposed by the Development and Planning Authority last year.

The hotel has been abandoned for more than 10 years and was badly damaged by fire in 2016.

The planning framework said 112 units of sheltered housing could be built or up to 75 residential dwellings.

Current plans would demolish the hotel and other derelict buildings and remove a number of trees, clearing the way for future development of the site.

A number of failed plans were submitted to planning before the fire in 2016.

The hotel was a popular tourist attraction and was once owned by the British singer Ronnie Ronalde.
