Guernsey inflation rate continues to fall

The rate of inflation in Guernsey has continued to slow over the past year, the latest figures show, external.

In the 12 months to December 2023, the Retail Prices Index (RPI), which reflects the cost of living in Guernsey, was 6.3%.

That compares with 7% in the 12 months to September 2023, official figures showed.

The inflation rate is based on the price changes of a "shopping basket" of items.

The RPI was 7.9% in the 12 months to September 2022.

The inflation rate peaked in December 2022, at 8.5%, the highest level since 1991.

Guernsey inflation statistics are published quarterly by the government's data and analysis team.
