Guernsey unemployment figures dropped in December

Unemployment in Guernsey fell slightly in December, but the number of people claiming benefits rose, figures have shown.
According to the States of Guernsey, the number of people seeking work was 287, down by 15 from November.
The number of new claims for employment and income-related benefits went from 16 in November to 20 in December.
The Job Centre reportedly promoted 198 jobs in December and offered a number of training schemes and placements.
At the end of September there were 40 people on training schemes such as Work to Benefit, Kickstart and placements with the third sector.
Compared with November the total number of jobseekers with "some" work also decreased from 233 to 220 people in December.
