Guernsey Electricity has apologised to residents, road users and businesses ahead of scheduled roadworks.

The company said it would be upgrading high voltage power cables in the Forest for four weeks.

The closure of roads including Le Bourg and Le Chêne is scheduled for 12 February to 8 March.

Drivers heading to the airport are being advised to allow "additional time to their journey" with a diversion in place from Le Chêne traffic lights.

Mike Lloyd, head of distribution at Guernsey Electricity, said they "appreciate that road closures can be inconvenient".

"We wish to apologise in advance for the lengthy delay," he said.

"This particular work is necessary in this area and our responsibility is not only to maintain the electricity network across the island, but to invest in and future proof the area to avoid major roadworks in the future."

Appropriate signage will be put in place by States Works and bus routes 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 and N3 will be affected.
