Recruitment is about to get under way for a new chief secretary for the Isle of Man government after the current one announced her retirement.

Mary Williams has revealed that she will step down from the post that she has held since November 2002 at the end of the year.

She will have worked in government for more than 40 years.

Mrs Williams has also served as chief financial officer, chief executive officer and chief internal auditor.

A government spokesman said advertising for her successor will begin in the next few weeks.
