Work on Douglas prom stalled due to economy woes
- Published
Work on an Isle of Man promenade will not start until the economic situation improves, a minister has said.
Phil Gawne MHK admitted Douglas promenade is starting to deteriorate and the government is receiving complaints about it looking shabby.
However, he said the repairs would cost in the region of £10m and "it is hardly the best of times" to promote such an expensive scheme.
He said they need to start thinking about improvements in a few years.
"Hopefully the economy will have bounced back. Everybody will be happy again and money will be flooding back in," he said.
