Manx flights cancelled as airport runs out of de-icer

Flights to and from the Isle of Man are cancelled after the airport runs out of de-icing fluid

Some flights from the Isle of Man have been cancelled because Ronaldsway Airport has run out of de-icing fluid.

Flights to Manchester, Liverpool, Dublin, Gatwick and Birmingham are among those services affected.

The government says a delivery of de-icing fluid, which had been expected on the ferry this morning, did not arrive.

Airport director Anne Reynolds said: "Several of our operators, given the current and expected temperatures, have cancelled operations for today."

"Airbase Flight Support Limited, the handling agent responsible, are trying to source alternative supplies whilst also asking their original supplier the location of the expected delivery," she added.

The airport is expected to open, as normal, at 0615 on Tuesday.

It is hoped a delivery of de-icing fluid will arrive on the island on Tuesday morning.
