Isle of Man anglers asked for fishing views

Anglers on the Isle of Man are being asked for their views on how new regulations could improve freshwater fishing.

The Department of Environment Food and Agriculture has announced a consultation exercise to update its 30-year-old angling rules.

It will ask for opinions on all aspects including daily bag limits and the length of the close seasons.

Anglers will also be asked to comment on rules relating to fish importation.

Legislative Council member for Fisheries, Juan Turner, said: "We are looking for angler opinion on all aspects of fishing, from daily bag limits to types of fishing gear, the annual close seasons and the regulation of coarse fish angling.

"The existing regulations are nearly 30 years old and I want to encourage all anglers to read these consultation papers and submit their views to the department.

"This is a unique chance for both angling clubs and individual anglers to have a say in the future of freshwater fishing in the island".
