Charity funding secured for new pacemaker service.

A new pacemaker service on the island has been made possible by a charitable donation
Some £40,000 has been donated to Noble's Hospital to provide a new pacemaker service for island patients.
Currently the equipment and expertise is not available on the Isle of Man and patients are referred to UK hospitals.
The new service will mean standard procedures will be dealt with locally, although more complex problems will still be referred.
Health Minister David Anderson said the donation came from the Noble's Trustees.
He added: "It will fund equipment and set up costs, with ongoing costs covered by re-allocating the money that would have been spent on transferring patients to the UK."
It is thought that about 430 people in the island currently have a pacemaker.
