Apology over Isle of Man Olympic tickets

Official tickets for the 2012 Games go on sale from 15 March

The organisers of the London 2012 Olympics have apologised for telling Isle of Man residents they could not apply for tickets in the same way as other British citizens.

Some islanders were sent an email saying they were not eligible to get tickets from the London 2012 website.

They had to get them from their National Olympic Committee (NOC) or authorised ticket retailer, it said.

The email was sent ahead of the tickets going on sale from 15 March.

The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown dependency. Its residents are British citizens.

A London 2012 spokesman said: "People on the Isle of Man were sent a London 2012 email in error suggesting they would not be able to apply for tickets to the Games via the same process as the rest of the UK.

"We apologise for this and any inconvenience caused and we have sent a correction to all those affected.

"We will, of course, accept applications from everywhere in the north west region - including the Isle of Man - at www.tickets.london2012 between March 15 and April 26 2011."
