Ferry bookings for Isle of Man TT rise

Bookings for ferry crossings for the Isle of Man TT festival are up from this time last year, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has said.

Bookings for motorbikes have risen by 6% compared to last April, and those for all passengers have increased by 11%, the company said.

The festival runs from 30 May to 10 June. Last year, about 10,300 motorcyclists travelled to the event.

This year marks the centenary of the Mountain course.

Isle of Man Steam Packet chief executive Mark Woodward said: "With six weeks to go until the world-famous festival, these figures are likely to change and we won't be in a position to confirm the actual number of visitors until after the event.

"However, it is encouraging to see that following the figures we issued in March, forward bookings still show a healthy increase on this time last year."
