Isle of Man Airport passenger figures continue to fall

There was nearly a 5% drop in passenger traffic at the Isle of Man Airport compared to figures from March 2010.

Airport executives have expressed concerns that the UK's "economic issues" will not help figures improve.

The UK is the island's primary market for airport traffic but officials believe financial problems will deter people from visiting.

Despite concerns, airport director Ann Reynolds believes numbers will "ultimately show an improvement".

Phil Gawne, Minister of Infrastructure, said: "As many feel the squeeze on their wallets, this will naturally reflect upon their ability to take short breaks.

"However, air fares to the island remain highly competitive.

"I am sure that this market will see a revival as people look for a good value break."
