Hope for Isle of Man bus strike solution
- Published
The Manx government is hoping a new agreement with bus drivers will bring an end to plans for more strike action.
Bus Vannin drivers took industrial action in December and January over new measures including a £3,000 pay cut.
Bobby Morton from the Unite union said more bus strikes were on the cards for February and March.
A government spokesman has confirmed that after a series of talks with Unite, a possible solution will now be put to secret ballot.
He added: "The proposed agreement allows the department to make the savings it requires to meet its budget targets whilst reassuring bus driving staff that their new terms and conditions will remain in place for a further two years. "
The department of infrastructure brought in changes to driver contracts in a bid to save £300,000 a year.
The ballot is expected to close on 11 February.
