The Isle of Man Met Office issued a localised flood warning as heavy and persistent rain was forecast.
According to the organisation rain was expected to arrive mid afternoon on Friday and get progressively heavier.
It was anticipated up to 80mm could fall in upland areas, with 50mm elsewhere.
Forecaster Colin Garshore said: "The rain will be accompanied by strong to gale force winds and resulting debris may block drains and cause flooding".
Further heavy rainfall is also expected throughout the weekend.
