The misspelled parking space sign in Port Jack has since been corrected

The bungled spelling of a "disabeld" parking space has proved a web smash, but hit a red-faced worker with some unpaid overtime.

About 700 people have liked or shared a photo of the gaffe posted by a shop manager in Port Jack on the ‎Manx Shops & Service Facebook, external page.

A Department of Infrastructure spokesman brushed aside the potty paint job as a "genuine mistake".

He said the worker who made the mistake "corrected it in his own time".

The manager of the Spar store in Port Jack, Daniel Spiby, said: "I spotted it when we were unloading a delivery but only had a chance to post the photos when I finished.

"The DoI came up last night at about half seven and corrected it."
