An historic market square in the Isle of Man is set for a £1m makeover after planning permission was granted.
The scheme could see a complete overhaul of the square in Castletown and the adjoining parade in the New Year if funding is approved.
The scheme will include work to improve the paving, seating and lighting and a parking system to help stage events.
Castletown MHK Richard Ronan said it was "wonderful news" and could be a "catalyst for future prosperity."
Regeneration project manager Steven Stanley said similar schemes have already being funded by the Regeneration Committee in Douglas, Ramsey and Laxey.
The square which is overlooked by the ancient Castle Rushen has been used as a film location on several productions in recent years including Islands at War.
The independent planning inspector said the proposed investment can be expected to "increase footfall and with it economic viability and vitality."
The square was last the subject of works in 2002.
