Isle of Man politicians reject assisted dying bill

A pensioner who has suffered two strokes has said she is "bitterly disappointed" that a bill to legalise assisted dying on the Isle of Man will not be pursued.

Juan Watterson MHK requested permission to bring forward a private member's bill to change the Manx law in the House of Keys on Tuesday, but it was overwhelmingly rejected.

Millie Blenkinsop-French, 71, from Douglas, said: "I am bitterly disappointed but I won't give up."

She continued: "I want to chose how I die, I don't want people to look after me, it's my right to die how I want."
