Corporal Mike Gilyeat: Memorial garden for fallen soldier
A garden in memory of a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan is being built at his Isle of Man family home.
Corporal Mike Gilyeat, 28, died when the Chinook helicopter he was travelling in crashed in southern Afghanistan in 2007.
His mother Margaret said: "People say time is a great healer - it isn't. He was my first born and only son, I'm still trying to deal now with his death."
The charity Forces Support is building a memorial garden with a seating area in her Isle of Man home.
"The garden is somewhere I need, to get out of the four walls. I'll have somewhere to go and think about my son," she said.
